More than ever before, high-achieving, driven, ambitious women are questioning their leadership next steps.

Why?

The high-achieving mindset for women in leadership propels us toward success while also sabotaging it. How is this possible?

If you have ever asked yourself in your situation…

  • Should I just double down more?

  • Should I get another degree or credential?

  • Should I improve my communication skills?

  • Should I try to become more efficient with my time?

  • Should I leave my job?

… beneath all these questions is one driving belief: “If I can just work hard enough, I will succeed (or prove them all wrong!).”

As high-achieving, driven women, we will dig in, pile on the achievements, and double down on our effort to prove ourselves, gain respect, and earn recognition and appreciation for our work.

But when we dig in, we sometimes use some unhealthy leadership habits rooted in societal norms that tell us how we should be and act to succeed, such as:

  • People-pleasing

  • Dismissing our own gut judgement

  • Agreeing to take on more without allotting time for ourselves

  • Nurturing other people’s vision without including our own vision

  • Confusing time with value

  • Overvaluing popular views of “worthy” leadership as opposed to what makes most sense for us

  • Overlooking the impact of systems on our success.

These tactics are harmful and often backfire, causing us to feel:

  • Burned out

  • Stretched thin

  • Stressed out

  • Exhausted

  • Overwhelmed

  • Frustrated

  • Trapped

  • Invalidated

  • Dismissed

  • Overlooked

  • Feelings of failure or imposterism

  • Low confidence

It’s a vicious cycle that you didn’t create but does keep you stuck. You see, the high-achieving mindset comes from an unsettling mix of pressures from a complex combination of:

  • your personal expectations of yourself as a high achiever,

  • confusing and harmful gender role messages about leadership, and

  • the lack of diverse perspectives in leadership identity

Instead of attending yet another leadership development program where you are told you are not enough, that you must fix your “confidence,” or “executive presence”, or “imposter syndrome,” it’s time to say ENOUGH of that harmful message!

It’s time to engage in a very different kind of program. One that empowers rather than continues to feed into the belief that if you just try hard enough, you will then be enough.

Our Programs are for you if…

  • You thrive in spaces for innovation, creation, learning, or health (e.g., healthcare, academia, STEM, tech).

  • You have served in at least one leadership role and been working in your field for at least 3 years.

  • You are looking for new way to lead - one that matches your values and style better.

  • You are re-examining your leadership path.

  • You appreciate connecting with others who have these experiences.

  • You are woman-identifying or an ally.

  • You want to make a greater impact.

  • You want to be a great leader for your team members and for yourself.

  • You value investing in your professional development and growth.

What You’LL GET

Our programs cultivate, elevate, and empower the development and impact of resilient, adaptable leaders who work in disrupted industries such as healthcare, education, academia, tech, STEM, pharma, and small business leaders focused on those industries.

Through small peer groups, a tech-enabled platform, an expert-led research-based curriculum using a proprietary strategic leadership roadmap, live calls with your own informal “Board of Directors,” networking, accountability partnerships, mentorship, coaching, and consulting, you will join an active, supportive, problem-solving community of high-achieving, thoughtful, kind, generous, whip-smart, ambitious, growth-oriented humans.

It’s not just a hang out.

It’s not an empty online program.

It’s not a venting and misery-loves-company kind of community.

We are an incubator for high-achieving women interested in exploring how to make an impact by re-examining outdated leadership norms and carving new paths.

We want to build a world that is comfortable and not threatened by high-achieving women in positions of power.

We exist to create the ecosystem for that success.

Connect

The community platform allows us to connect asynchronously, like above, but also live through online workshops and Office Hours.

<<< We also just like to have some fun and bring our weird out every once in a while - Here’s a peek at our end-of-Season celebration.

Learn

Members of our community appreciate a private community platform where they can go through out course content at their own pace but also using a structured plan and accountability groups.

Here’s a sneak peek into what it looks like >>>

Network

Members of our community also enjoy networking with leaders from other industries.

We offer most of line online, but here is a peek at one of our in-person events where we invited local members and community leaders for an intimate networking event and another one from our end of quarter online celebration. >>>

Our Roadmap

For a full year of membership, we help leaders work through our 5-stage Strategic Leadership Pathway model of leadership identity development. Below is an image of the 5 stages and a description of what you will accomplish at each part of this journey.

For those not quite ready for the full year membership, we offer our flagship Developing Leadership Identity Accelerator program, mapping onto the second stage of the journey.

What outcomes can I expect?

Outcomes happen both immediately through the Accelerator Program and grow over time through the annual membership.

Here is a video that describes the outcomes we saw after the first beta test of the Accelerator program.

Since then we have done similar evaluations with new cohorts and found similar outcomes.

(1.5 min clip; The Hard Skills podcast.)

Over time, as members stay in the community beyond the Accelerator Program, we have noted the following outcomes:

A Few of our differentiators include…

What’s the investment?

We offer two options:

OPTION1: The 10-Week Accelerator: $495

Who it’s for: If you’re just starting to think about leadership development for yourself and want to see if our community is for you, start with the Accelerator. (Valued at over $10,000 when offered separately in 1:1 executive coaching and leadership development training.)

OPTION 2: A Full 1-year (Annual Pathway) Membership: $1,495

Who it’s for: If you’re ready to commit to yourself and the possibilities for your career, the annual pathway membership is for you.

It includes the Accelerator Program, additional advanced leadership courses that build on it, following the complete Strategic Leadership Pathway Roadmap, a Leadership Development Plan and Progress Tracker, and many bonus optional ways you can enhance your experience through leadership assessments, mini-courses, live workshops and networking events, and a Strategic Leadership certification upon completion. (Valued at nearly $30,000!).

Note: You can save 25% by investing in the Annual Pathway.

Alumni of the Annual Pathway membership may choose to continue on with the community after that for only $300 per year, which includes ongoing access to the current courses as well as new courses, networking opportunities, Q&A sessions, and live events.

As a social impact research-informed company, we aim to offer an exceptional value and experience using research-based model at a fraction of the cost. Most other cohort programs are one-size-fits-all models with less support and yet cost between $5,000 to $7,000 per person.

We are committed to creating leadership development options that:

  • Are affordable and accessible to leaders in industries that typically have limited funding for leadership development

  • Support and advance women’s professional and economic development

  • Elevate diverse leaders committed to making a positive impact in creating healthy, inclusive workplaces

Who we are: Your partners for success

Here are some of the folks who are serving on the Advisory Board and may also serve in additional community support roles, such as facilitators and mentors. These are some of the people who are going to support your journey. Click on each to learn more about them!

The Participant Experience

This program is not just a training program. There’s a very personal experience to it. It’s for intellectuals, thinkers (and often over-thinkers :), deep processors, and introspective types.

Let’s start with what our Founding and Advisory Board members say about why they care deeply about what this community can offer:

Advisory Board Member, Dr. Monique C. Johnson, shares why she got involved and what she hopes for others.

What the community experience is like (4 min clip; The Hard Skills podcast.)

The ongoing challenges for women in leadership. (4 min clip; The Hard Skills podcast.)

The paradigm shift Founding Member Sara learned from the Academy. (45-sec clip; The Hard Skills podcast.)

The impact of leadership identity development and social support from the community. (1-min clip; The Hard Skills podcast)

Frequently Asked Questions

Check out our most commonly asked questions below or contact us at admin@gotowerscope.com

  • Here are the questions we’ll be asking you to answer for the application and why:

Q1: What is your current career role and status? We want to make sure your leadership experience will be a good fit for the program and also that the program will fit your needs.

Q2: What are you looking to achieve from this program? We are assessing the fit of what our program offers to what you are looking for.

Q3: What are your current top leadership challenges? same as above

Q4: What impact do you aspire to have in your organization or more globally through your work? We want leaders focused on impact.

Q5: What have you done so far to develop your leadership skills and style? We want leaders who invest in their professional development.

Q6: Describe your ideal leadership development community program. We are again assessing for fit between your needs and what the program offers.

Q7: If accepted into TLA, what do you bring that will benefit the cohort? We are looking for members who aren’t just looking to receive. The purpose of a membership community like ours is that growth is a mutually beneficial give-and-take experience.

Q8: How did you hear about the program? We want to know if you are connected to any of our current members or which of our channels you found us.

Q9: What industry are you coming from? We want to make sure that the industries we focus on match your needs.

For the interview, we ask questions such as:

Tell me about your experience with leadership.

Why this program? Why now? How could this program fill a need or gap in your current development?

What do you need from membership community to make it feel like it was worth the investment?

Have you had experiences with leadership development or coaching? What are your expectations?

Tell me a time you had a conflict with a leader. How do you handle it?

In your opinion, what distinguishes a good leader from a great leader?

This is a gender-inclusive but women-centered space. How do you feel about that? What comes to mind?

Can you make the commitment to be fully engaged (show up to as many live events as you can, especially for your small group and accountability partners, be engaged with a community platform to support others asynchronously)

If you are satisfied at the end, would you be willing to share a testimonial?

Will your organization be paying? Do you need an invoice for that?

    What questions do you have?

Overall, we are looking for strong, collaborative members who have the energy and interest to support others while they work on their own leadership journey.

  • There are two phases of the application process:

    1. Submit a brief application that is connected to setting up an interview call

    2. Show up for a brief interview

Based on your application materials and interview, one of three outcomes will occur:

    (a) You get accepted. Yay! We will notify you the moment we determine you are a fit and provide next steps.

    (b) We may determine that a second interview will help us better evaluate the fit.

    (c) We may determine that what you are looking for is not a good fit for the community or that what the community offers is not a good fit for what you are looking for. Often, we will be able to share that during the interview. But, there are times that we may need a second interview (see above) to determine that.

If things don’t work out, don’t woyry! You can always apply again for a future round if circumstances change.

  • All who apply will go through a rigorous review. We begin making decisions about filling slots as soon as we start interviewing. You will know if you are accepted no later than 2 weeks prior to the start of the cohort and will be required to finalize your payment to hold your spot.

  • Currently we are running it as a fully virtual program.

  • In general, this program was designed specifically for people who mostly work in limited funding organizations or have limited funding themselves. The cost of a program like this is typically $5,000-7,000 per person when we work with sponsoring organizations.

As such, it is already priced at a fraction of the real value - and made to specifically meet the needs of individuals who may need to pay out of pocket.

That said, there several great ways to save money, as follows - ask us about these if you are interested:

    1. We offer special discounts or bonuses for every person you recommend.

    2. If you pull together a group of qualified applicants, we can create a group discount.

    3. Many organizations have professional development budgets. Check with your department to see if they can support all or part of the cost of the program! (See information in the next question about how to make a strong pitch.)

  • If you are pursuing reimbursement from your organization and need an invoice letter, a letter to request funding, or an invoice that allows the institution other options to pay directly, you may use any of the resources below:

    1. Download our Template to Request Institutional Funding

    2. If you are an organization interested in sponsoring multiple individuals or a group cohort, email us at admin@gotowerscope.com to talk about group pricing.

    3. If you need a separate invoice please let us know.

  • This is meant to be comprehensive to meet many of your needs. But if you do need more 1:1 support, we do offer executive coaching and you can find out more from our website.

  • We do allow folks into the cohort on a case-by-case basis focused on making sure each individual would benefit. We suggest applying if you are interested and we can talk further about whether this would be a good fit or not.

  • Recent research has found that if you put in the time and engage fully, it typically takes between about 8.5 to 10 weeks to create sustainable change. Indeed, we have found exactly that in our initial 9-week beta test: Committed and engaged Founding Members began to see results in weeks 5-9.

Like anything, the more you put into showing up, engaging fully, and trying things out in between small and large group live sessions, the greater the results.

Designed by a psychologist, our program is specifically designed based on that habit-forming research and infuses research-backed psychological principles of what it takes to achieve results, including:

    • Goal-setting

    • Tracking progress

    • Embedded accountability

    • Access to routine feedback

    • Learning best practice principles

    • Consistent practice

    • Peer support

    • And much more…

It typically takes 6 months to see consistent improvements in your own leadership behaviors and about 12 months to start seeing those behavioral changes turn into larger scale impact for your team or organization.

At about the 12-18 month mark, leaders we work with start to significantly reduce how much time they spend constantly putting out fires and increase the time spent in higher level big picture strategy work.

This timeline is greatly affected by how large and complex your organization is and how much politics is getting in the way, but these are the very things that we will work on helping you navigate with savvy and confidence.

  • We would suggest allocating approximately 1-2 hours per week to take full dvantage of all that we offer.

    • With our divided attention sometimes we need to learn outside of work, in small chunks, and self-directed to develop your individual career journey goals.

    • Career development is no longer linear - people have gaps that are both horizontal and vertical. That is especially true for women with additional caregiver responsibilities. This allows you to develop a more flexible leadership development pathway.

    • Continuous learning and growth, that is not connected to what your organization may offer you, is a more sustainable competitive advantage that is within your control, at a time when you need it.

  • As a service-based business focused on curating small, meaningful cohorts and offering a cost that is aligned with our social impact model, we cannot offer refunds. However, it is important to us to provide high value for all participants. If there are concerns or problems that arise in the program, we want to receive your feedback and will work with you to improve your experience.

  • This group is NOT a good fit of those who want:

    • Training (instead of development). This is an interactive program requiring engagement, trying things out, and giving and receiving support, not a place to sit back and listen.

    • (Solely) a support or friendship group. While group members will receive plenty of support and develop lasting relationships, this program is focused on helping leaders set, accomplish, and sustain their goals.

    • Therapy, counseling, or life coaching. If these services are identified as an additional need, we can discuss how best to engage with this community while also seeking out additional support outside the program.

  • Absolutely! This is not a women-only program. However, it is women-centered. That means we welcome ANY applicants who would be open to discussions that might include the impact of things like sexism and gender biases that affect leadership outcomes.

The content would benefit anyone, regardless of gender. However, since most leadership development programs do not make room for discussing how our identity and societal messages might shape who we are and how we therefore navigate our world, we take additional measures to ensure we create a space to have these discussions comfortably and safely.

If you are not sure that that would work for you but feel that otherwise everything about this program resonates, we absolutely encourage you to apply and we can have a chance to talk further during the interview to make sure it's a good fit.

I have more questions, how can I contact you?

If you are interested and serious about this program, we suggest you submit an application, where you can also include your questions. We invite all qualified applicants to a 20-minute interview to make sure it’s a good fit.
